Southern Mountains

The Southern Mountains reach up to 2000m and can be split into the following broad zones: coastal plains, foothills, escarpment (lower and upper), dry plateau, and north facing cliffs. The south facingescarpment cliffs are characterized by dense, lush green woodlands and verdant understory vegetation during the monsoon season between June and September. The Dhofar Mountains are festooned with an incredible diversity and abundance of plant species. Plants of note include: Bosciaarabica, Anogeissusdhofarica, Adeniumobesum, Boswellia sacraand Ficusvasta.
