Collecting plant specimens and preserving them is as valuable as collecting living material. Worldwide, herbaria were always the library of dried plant specimens. Many species have been discovered and named based on herbarium specimens. The Oman Botanic Garden herbarium currently holds approximately 75% of the total flora of the country, preserved as dried specimens. Our herbarium collection is considered one of the assets of the garden, and we follow the most recent international classification system. The herbarium is a critical scientific component of the garden and the goal is to welcome many taxonomists, scientists, researchers and students in the future.
