Annual or short-lived woody perennial with zig-zagging branches radiating out from the centre, up to 20cm. Leaves: Alternate, bright green, oval with entire margins.Flowers: Tiny, borne in forks of branches surrounded by five hairy sepals. Fruit: Star-shaped red capsule. Flowering period: Most of the year. Habitat: This plant grows common on sandy and gravel areas. Found in Northern Oman. Altitude: up to 1800m. Uses: Leaves eaten in salads.
