Hypoestes forskaolii

Untidy erect herb with branched stems covered in short hairs, up to 1m. Leaves: Opposite, elliptic with entire margins. Flowers: Mauve with darker markings on the throat, the upper lip reflexed. Appearing in clusters at the end of axillary or terminal stems. Fruit: Club shaped capsule. Seeds pale brown, smooth. Flowering period: All year, if near water. Habitat: Found in the wet escarpment forest in Dhofar. Altitude: 350-1100m. Note: Toxic to livestock.
